SWPPP Inspector

Our vision is to foster an environment that promotes inspired and empowered team members who make an impact.The SWPPP Inspector will primarily be responsible for inspecting construction sites to ensure compliance with project-specific Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) under the Clean Water Act, as well as compliance with erosion control regulations and applicable environmental regulations and permits. The SWPPP Inspector will provide additional regulatory support and guidance for projects across the planning and execution phases. The role is primarily field based.In addition, your role will be to:
Act as a technical lead to project team

Conduct regular inspections of a variety of construction sites to identify potential environmental hazards and ensure compliance with SWPPP and other relevant regulations.
Documenting all inspection findings and communicating them to the Compliance Management Team.
Inspect areas of concern, as identified, and make appropriate recommendations to construction personnel, as required
Developing and implementing corrective action plans and mitigation measures for any identified environmental issues or hazards.
Coordinate with construction personnel to implement Best Management Practices to address issues impacting compliance.
Providing technical guidance to the project team regarding SWPPP and other environmental regulations.
Provide guidance and direction to the project team with respect to the Clean Water Act
Prepare and submit environmental related permits, when required
Interacting with regulatory agencies to maintain compliance and obtain necessary permits.
Coordinate with regulatory bodies, when required
Prepare and submit digital reports based on inspection findings.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Environmental Science or related field of study
Formal leadership training would be considered an asset
Minimum 2 years professional experience in SWPPP inspection and compliance
Experience leading field work, and coordinating with various field teams
Professional experience working on projects regulated under NEPA or state-equivalent
Strong working knowledge of environmental best management practices
Experience related to transmission line construction would be an asset
Training, qualification or designation related to development of SWPPPs or Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) plans, such as CPESC and CESCL certifications are considered an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills – data collection and interpretation, technical report writing, regulatory permit applications, client communications, etc.

Excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously with minimal supervision

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Valid Driver’s License, with ability to maintain insurability under the company’s insurance carrier
