Position Overview:

The Direct Support Provider (DSP) plays a vital role in providing essential support and assistance to individuals in need of direct care services. This position requires compassionate individuals who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals on the autism spectrum. As a DSP, you will be responsible for providing care, support, and supervision to individuals in various settings, ensuring their safety, well-being, and overall comfort.

Responsibilities:

Personal Care Assistance: Provide assistance with activities of daily living based on the individual's needs and abilities.

Medication Administration: Administer medications following established protocols, ensuring accurate dosage as needed.

Monitoring and Documentation: Observe and document the individual's physical and emotional well-being, behavior, and any changes in condition. Maintain accurate records and reports as required.

Safety and Supervision: Ensure the safety and security of individuals by maintaining a safe environment, monitoring for hazards, and promptly addressing any safety concerns.

Emotional Support: Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals, promoting their social and emotional well-being through active listening, empathy, and engaging in meaningful conversations.

Transportation: Accompany and assist individuals during appointments, recreational activities, or community outings, ensuring their safe transportation and adherence to scheduled activities, if needed.

Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with individuals, their families, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care and address any concerns or changes in care plans.

Adherence to Regulations: Follow all relevant state and federal regulations, as well as agency policies and procedures, regarding the provision of direct care services.

Education and Certification:

High school diploma or equivalent is typically required. Certification in CPR and First Aid may be necessary.

Experience:

Previous experience in direct care or a related field is preferred but not always required. Willingness to learn and develop necessary skills is essential.

Compassion and Empathy: Demonstrate a genuine caring attitude and empathy towards individuals with diverse needs, backgrounds, and abilities.

Communication Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with individuals, families, and team members.

Patience and Flexibility: Remain patient, adaptable, and calm in challenging situations while maintaining professionalism and a client-centered approach.

Physical Stamina: Ability to lift, bend, stand for extended periods, and perform physical tasks associated with direct care responsibilities.

Reliability and Dependability: Exhibit a strong work ethic, punctuality, and the ability to follow schedules and routines.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour

Schedule:

Morning shift

Day shift

Evening shift

Monday to Friday

Weekends as needed

Typical hours will be between 6 AM and 9 PM.
