Thank you for considering a career at Roper St. Francis Healthcare!Scheduled Weekly Hours:36Work Shift:Nights (United States of America)Location: Roper Hospital - Charleston, SCShift: Full time (36 hours a week) night shift$5000.00 Sign On BonusJob Summary :The Polysomnographer shall provide testing, treatment and follow-up for all populations of inpatients and outpatients suspected to have a sleep/wake disorder. Established guidelines for testing and treatment will be determined by the AASM, departmental protocol and licensing agencies. Routine duties will include 15 channel nocturnal polysomnogram recording, CPAP/BiPAP titration, multiple sleep latency tests, ambulatory screening and test scoring. Other duties will include but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, patient/family education, equipment disinfection and treatment follow-up. All treatment and diagnostic modalities are tailored to meet the needs of the population served.Minimum Qualifications :Education: High School Diploma. Associates degree in Polysomnography or Respiratory Care strongly preferred.Experience: 1 year experience in polysomnography required.Licensure/Certification: Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.RPSGT through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists, Must have verification of “Exemption for Ventilation by Non-Respiratory Care Practitioners” through the SC Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.Primary Source Verification (if applicable): BRPT websitehttps://www.brpt.org/cvwebbrpt/cgi-bin/utilities.dll/OpenPage?wrp=publicmemberSearch.htmExemption for Ventilation: LLR on Medical BoardKnowledge/Skills:Demonstrates a high level of knowledge in sleep physiology. Demonstrates a high level of understanding of the theory of operation of all sleep testing equipment. Maintains competency in the clinical application of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures outlined in the departmental scope of services. Demonstrates knowledge of the characteristics and needs of the different age groups throughout the age continuum from 5 years to geriatrics. Effectively communicates verbally and over the telephone with co-workers, physicians, nurses, patient, patient family members and the public. Demonstrates understanding and clinical application of infection control techniques and equipment cleaning and disinfection.Other: Demonstrate ability to effectively use departmental computer for order entry and patient charges.Contacts : The Polysomnographer is in daily contact with patients, family members, fellow therapists, physicians, nurses, support staff, other allied health workers and outside vendors.Work Demands/Environment :Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping. Assistant with lifting or turning patients. Intermittent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling up to 50 lbs. Ability to push stretchers and wheel chairs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue by skin contact or needle sticks. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Intermittent exposure to risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.
