Truck & Equipment Mechanic/Fabricator
A Local Excavation and Construction Company is Looking for a Competent, Experienced, DOT Truck and Equipment Mechanic Able to Service and Repair Heavy Equipment and Fleet Vehicles. This Position Will Provide Ancillary Support to the Lead Equipment Mechanic/Manager.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
Weld/Fabrication experience is preferred.
Perform routine maintenance, lubrication, and service as assigned.
Knowledge of both Gas and Diesel equipment and engines is preferred.
Ability to use precision tools (such as micrometers and gauges) to examine parts for damage and excessive
wear.
Ability to repair or replace damaged or worn parts.
Ability to read and understand schematics, technical drawings, and operating manuals.
Ability to operate trucks and heavy machinery to inspect, test, and diagnose defects and repairs.
Able to use hoists and cranes to dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment.
Ability to keep accurate maintenance and repair records.
Must maintain a clean, safe, and organized work station.
Must treat co-workers, supervisors, and the public with respect and professionalism.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
and assigned.
Must be willing to travel (within North Idaho) and work nights and weekends when necessary.
Individuals must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
SKILLS & CHARACTERISTICS
Mechanical ability – familiarity with parts and components of complex machinery and equipment.
Attention to detail! Ability to ensure parts and repairs are performed to proper specifications and tolerances.
Thorough knowledge of shop and hand tools with a proper understanding of their application and correct
usage.
The ability to troubleshoot and identify mechanical problems (engine, electrical, hydraulic, etc.) and
determine workable solutions.
Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations.
Must be able to complete Maintenance and Repair Documentation as Required.
Ability to understand and communicate effectively through verbal and written instructions.
Ability to operate equipment and/or possession of a CDL driver’s license is preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, sitting/driving, and looking under
trucks and equipment.
Dexterity and good hand-eye coordination is essential.
Must be able to lift weights in excess of 50 lbs.
Able to work in all weather conditions.
