Full Time Wrangler Position
As a wrangler you will be required to be at the barn each morning to care for approx. 15 head of horses & 8 highland cows. Experience driving a team of horses, shoeing horses, operating a tractor and driving a truck & trailer are helpful but not necessary. We have an amazing team who love working here so positive attitude and a hardworking mindset is a must to keep up with our great team
Duties include but are not limited to:
· Daily brushing, grooming, watering and feeding
· Daily gathering of horses from pasture
· Preparation of horse for trail rides and other horse related activities such as wrangling, bridling, addling, training and driving teams
· Continuous maintenance of horses, equipment, all fences (on trails, pastures etc.), corral maintenance, tack room, barn and barnyard cleanup & maintenance
· Assisting in daily herd health management, vet and care for herd including identifying injuries or soundness issues prior to selecting horses for guest activities
· Operating ranch equipment efficiently and properly
· Instructing guests on basic horsemanship, assisting guests onto horses,guiding them on trail rides to provide an exemplary guest experience for riders of all abilities and ages
· Harnessing and driving teams of draft horses and transporting groups of guests to various activity locations
· Kid’s Wranglers will be working directly with kids ages 3-12 years of age
Minimum qualifications include:
· Basic horsemanship knowledge (behavior, safety and control) on and off the horse
· Basic horse care knowledge such as injuries, illness, nutrition, soundness and hoof care issues
· Ability to catch, halter, saddle, bridle and ride houses
· Possess general ranch maintenance skills such as fencing and equipment operation
· Ability to get on and off a horse from the ground with ease and work from saddle
· Ability to carry, push or pull up to 5o pounds for short distances and lift from floor to shoulder height up to 65 pounds
· Ability to work while squatting, bending and/or twisting
· 3+ years of guest ranch, ranch or guiding experience
· 3+ years working within teams of individuals with common goals
· High school diploma or equivalent
· Must possess a valid driver’s license
· Good physical condition and able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
· Must complete First Aid/CPR training
