Medical Billing Clerk for Private Ophthalmology Practice
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our team full-time. This individual is responsible for accurately posting charges and collecting from patients in order to maximize payment amount and turn-around time.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years’ experience posting and/or billing insurances in a medical office.
Ophthalmology practice experience preferred.
Has substantial knowledge of CPT coding and ICD-10 coding, preferably for ophthalmology
Has worked processing claims to Medicare and Medi-Cal.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
Ability to handle patient phone calls compassionately and efficiently.
Demonstrated ability to work well and get along with co-workers.
Initiative to complete projects.
Daily balancing of charge inputs and patient deposits.
Production of weekly patient billing.
Aptitude for ensuring computer system is accurate and updated.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Posting of charges within 24 hours of services provided.
Posting of patient payments.
Assist with regular patient billing (i.e., set up, printing, and sending).
Resubmission of unpaid claims, for whatever reason, utilizing claim journals.
Coordinate with insurance billers to ensure claims are being submitted timely and accurately.
Work with accounting/bookkeeping to ensure reconciliation of charges and payments.
Computer updates when new releases come out.
Provider information accuracy and update.
Maintenance of computer system, i.e., software and hardware.
Run “missing tickets” reports and regular audits to make sure all charges have been captured.
