Tax ManagementThe Tax Management job manages the organizational tax reporting, tax planning, and compliance function of the company. This job supervises professional level employees who are responsible for the calculation of tax liabilities, tax form preparation, and external filing/reporting. This job also oversees junior employees' work in tax research, compliance, analysis, and tax communications with federal and state agencies.Key Responsibilities and Duties

Implements the organization's tax strategy to optimize the amount of tax the company pays and ensure it complies with all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations.

Oversees the completion of accurate tax returns to minimize the tax obligations of the organization.

Analyzes the general ledger and related financial documents to ensure appropriate tax accounting is being performed.

Coordinates tax-specific transaction recording and maintenance for records such as tax journals, capital expenditure details required for tax calculations, tax depreciation schedules, etc.

Keeps up to date with and advises others of organization-related tax regulations at the federal, state and local levels.

Ensures accounting policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports.

Manages performance of team through regular, timely feedback as well as the formal performance review process to ensure delivery of exceptional products and engagement, motivation, and development of team.

Oversee the delivery of tax services across areas of fiduciary, trust/foundations, 1099, 1099R, 5498, 1040 and gift.

Deliver superior customer service and specialize subject matter expertise to individual tax clients.

Work with Wealth Management partners to deliver sophisticated income tax planning advisory services for TIAA’s highest net worth and most influential clients.

Serves as an expert resource for Wealth Management partners on client income tax planning strategies directed to high-net worth individuals.

Communicate with senior leadership team to provide operational strategies and efficiency opportunities.

Represent the business to various taxing agencies, including federal, state and local.

Serve as liaison between outside tax preparation vendor and TIAA by sharing of information, collaborating on preparation of individual, gift and partnership income tax returns; and assist with inputting of various tax-related information into software programs and TIAA systems.

Participate in various projects to support TIAA and business initiatives, including strategic planning to evolve TIAA’s tax offering.

Responsible for the calculation, preparation, and processing of all individual, gift and partnership income tax returns.

Support and oversee the preparation and implementation of tax filings of trusts and estates.

Support and oversee the preparation and implementation of tax filings of 1099s, 1099Rs and 5498s.

Prepare and implement debits on individual and trust accounts for tax payments, including tax filings, tax estimates and tax extensions. Prepare and file all related tax payments, including quarterly estimates, tax payments, and extension payments with the various taxing agencies.
