Job Title: Lead Systems Administrator Location: Fort JohnsonDCWF Code: 451 - Systems AdministrationClearance Level: Secret Clearance; must be eligible for a T5 investigationCompliance: DOD 8140Position Overview: The Lead Systems Administrator will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the organization's IT infrastructure at Fort Johnson. This role involves leading a team of systems administrators, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of all systems, and aligning IT strategies with organizational goals. The Lead Systems Administrator will also be responsible for implementing best practices, managing complex IT projects, and ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DOD) 8140 standards.Key Responsibilities:
Systems Management: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of servers, storage, and network systems.
Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of systems administrators, providing guidance and support in daily operations and project tasks.
Security Compliance: Ensure all systems are compliant with DOD 8140 standards and maintain a robust security posture.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to optimize IT operations.
Incident Management: Manage and resolve IT incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and quick recovery.
Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of systems configurations, processes, and procedures.
Project Management: Lead and manage IT projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project goals.
Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems and alignment with organizational objectives.
Upgrades and Patches: Oversee the planning and execution of system upgrades, patches, and other maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in systems administration, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Certifications: Relevant IT certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or equivalent. Compliance with DOD 8140 is required.
Skills:
Proficiency in Windows and Linux server environments.
Strong understanding of network protocols, storage solutions, and virtualization technologies.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Additional Requirements:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Knowledge of DOD policies and procedures related to IT systems and cybersecurity.
Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
