Assistant Facility Security Officer
Huntsville, AL, USA | Full Time Job Title: Assistant Facility Security Officer Location: Huntsville, AL (On-Site) Canvas is seeking an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO)! In this role, you will support the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in managing and implementing security protocols to protect sensitive information and ensure compliance with government regulations. Additionally, you will assist in maintaining the facility's security program, including personnel security, physical security, and information security. Duties:
Assist the FSO in developing, implementing, and maintaining security policies and procedures in accordance with federal regulations and company standards.
Conduct security briefings and training for employees on security protocols and best practices.
Support the processing of personnel security clearances and manage access control systems.
Ensure the proper handling and safeguarding of classified information and materials.
Assist in maintaining compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and other applicable regulations.
Participate in security audits and assessments, preparing reports and recommendations for improvement.
Initiate, monitor and report on employee security training compliance.
Create, track, and manage employee visitor access requests (VARs).
Conduct in-processing and out-processing procedures for employees.
Initiate background checks for potential employment new hires.
Assist in keeping the Company Security Database (SECCON) up to date with required security information.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required. Degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field desired.
Strong organization and clerical skills.
1-5 years relevant experience desired.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Attention to detail and a strong sense of ethics and integrity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and security management software.
Knowledge of federal security regulations, particularly NISPOM desired.
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.
