I am a 46 year-old, professional, petite, single female in a wheelchair seeking a female personal care assistant. I am independent and easy to get along with. I live in an apartment in Manhattan’s newest neighborhood, Hudson Yards. Centrally located near Macy's Herald Square, Penn Station, the new Hudson Yard’s 7 train station, Port Authority, and several major subway lines.

I am a very active person both professionally (I am a psychologist and run my own therapy practice) and in my social life. I love to travel. The person that I am looking for to fill this position is someone who is dependable, flexible, has a positive mood, and is also energetic.

THE SHIFTS:

Overnight- Thursday to Sunday or Monday

There is some flexibility in the start and end time of the shift and how many hours you would like to work. We can discuss what combination is best for you. I am happy to try to accommodate someone’s school/class/other job schedule and I can add more hours if need be.

JOB DUTIES:

Assisting with ADL’s (i.e. showering, dressing, getting in and out of bed, etc.).

Household tasks (i.e. laundry, light cooking, keeping the apartment need and tidy, etc. I am a very organized person)!

Running errands ( i.e. trips to the pharmacy and grocery store).

Accompanying me on shopping trips, to medical appointments, to the gym, to physical therapy appointments, and to the pool when I go for swim therapy.

Must be able to work legally in the United States.

No heavy lifting involved.

No special medical procedures or dispensing of medication involved.

Must be comfortable around friendly cats and a dog.

Must speak English fluently or close to fluent.

The ability to drive is definitely a plus but not necessary.

The ability/willingness to travel occasionally is a plus but not necessary.

Prior experience working with someone with a disability is a plus but also not necessary.

PAY (before taxes):

· $19 per hour on weekdays

· $19.10 per hour on weekends

· Overtime pay is up to $22 per hour

COMPANY BENEFITS:

· Health Insurance including dental and vision. You have the option to opt out.

· Time and a half on major US holidays.

· Paid Vacation Time/Sick time- Paid out if unused during the year.
