Observe and Report. Assist with overseeing some of the operations of a sober living home, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for residents in recovery from addiction, by enforcing rules, providing emotional support, and acting as a positive role model.
The key responsibilities of the Sober Living House Volunteer may include:
Maintaining a safe and structured environment:
Enforcing house rules preserving a drug and alcohol free environment, checking chores, maintaining sign-in/out sheets for curfew, administer periodic drug screens,
and reporting any potential issues that could disrupt sobriety to the Director.
Resident support: Providing emotional support, guidance, and accountability to residents navigating recovery.
Conflict resolution: Report any and all issues between residents to the Director so that it can be addressed promptly.
Admissions and discharges: Aiding in the transition of intake and the exit process.
Important qualities for a successful Sober Living House Volunteer:
Personal recovery experience: Having firsthand knowledge of addiction and recovery can greatly enhance the ability to relate to residents.
Strong leadership skills: Ability to set clear expectations, enforce rules consistently, and motivate residents to maintain sobriety.
Empathy and compassion: Understanding the challenges of recovery and providing a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
Communication skills: Effective communication with residents and the Director is crucial.
Boundary setting: Maintaining professional boundaries while providing necessary support to residents.
Employment Type: Sober Living House Volunteer / Part-time
Compensation: Furnished Private room, free rent, cable, utilities, and paper goods.
Requirements: TB Test, successful background check and drug screen.
