Purchasing Specialist
Job Title: General Purchasing SpecialistJob DescriptionTake advantage of this great entry-level supply chain opportunity with a well-known international manufacturer. The General Purchasing Specialist will manage vendors, assist with inventory tracking, and interact with internal departments. The role involves reviewing and forecasting materials and supply needs for product runs, assisting with inventory reporting and analytics, and handling general purchasing activities such as steel, aluminum, sub-materials, paints, equipment, and MROs. The specialist is also responsible for supplier management relating to cost, quality, supplier controls, legal compliance, and service.Responsibilities
Place orders with vendors according to planned manufacturing schedules.
Research and evaluate various vendors to determine the best price, quality, and availability.
Ensure materials are purchased at the best possible price by conducting research and analysis of vendors and costs.
Prepare, report, and implement Request for Quotation (RFQ) for general purchasing.
Select, develop, and manage the supply base for General Purchasing products and services.
Prepare Request for Quotations (RFQ) for user department requirements.
Negotiate spot purchases and long-term agreements.
Maintain competitive pricing.
Lead yearly cost reduction activities.
Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance.
Formulate and implement yearly commodity and supply base strategy.
Work closely with suppliers to optimize supplier processes.
Explore available technology and implement best practices related to purchasing activities.
Organize, track, and disseminate information related to General Purchasing suppliers.
Manage vendor and pricing data in the ERP system.
Essential Skills
Experience in General Purchasing
Solid Excel and computer skills
Understanding of external market and current trends
Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship now or in the future
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (all majors)
Job-related experience in Automotive or related industry preferred
Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) designation preferred
Experience with ERP systems
Work EnvironmentThis position is in a dynamic and fast-paced manufacturing environment. The role involves working closely with various internal departments and external vendors. The work schedule aligns with planned manufacturing activities and may require some flexibility.
