Special Education Paraprofessional/ Behavior Health Technician
Connecting the Pieces is seeking Paraprofessionals and Behavior Health Technicians ( BHT) to provide services to students /clients during school hours as well as after school, evenings, and weekends who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Disturbance, Specific Learning Disability, Intellectual Disability and Other Health Impairment.

Responsibilities of Paraprofessional
· Provide services to students in the home, school, or community setting
· Implement student’s behavior plan throughout the school day
· Monitor and collect data on each IEP goal and identified target areas of concern
· Work collaboratively with the IEP team, including school and behavioral personnel
· Obtain daily signatures/authorizations from parent or guardian
· Input data into CTP and school specific systems regarding schedules, hours worked, attendance, cancellations, mileage, and other required information in a timely fashion
· Assist student to meet individual goals and objectives
· Maintain open and continuous communication with CTP office staff
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or Associate degree and/or two years of postsecondary study (48 college credits)
· 1 to 2 years’ experience working with children who have special needs
· Available during typical school hours
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Ability to build a rapport with student(s) and team members
· Well-organized and reliable
· PA State and FBI clearances
· 20 hours of staff development activities.
Responsibilities of BHT:
· Provide one-on-one interventions including but not limited to crisis intervention, behavior management support, emotional support, and time-structured activities, at homes, schools, day care, and/or community by implementing interventions and support.
· Carries out specific interventions that are identified in the behavioral treatment plan developed by the Behavioral Consultant (BC).
· Teaches the child positive social skills in order to avoid or decrease socially inappropriate, threatening and/or dangerous behavior by implementing the behavioral interventions (ex: role play, modeling, positive reinforcement) that have been developed by the BC
· Models and explains the appropriate intervention to the child, family and/or teacher by working collaboratively with them modeling the behaviors based on the interventions that have been developed by the BC.
· Supports caregivers in providing immediate rewards or consequences for behavior identified in the individual behavioral treatment plan.
· Implements behavioral supports as identified in the treatment plan to support the child in their participation in activities.
· Records behavioral data and documents progress toward child's treatment plan goals
Qualifications:
40-hour training covering the RBT Task List providered by CTP and no cost to candidate ( for BHT position)
· High school diploma
· 1 to 2 years’ experience working with children who have special needs
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· Ability to build a rapport with client and team members
· Well-organized and reliable
· PA State and FBI clearances
Pay: From $15.00 per hour
