Job Summary:
As the Automotive Technology Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Foreman and technicians by managing many aspects of the shop’s advanced technology and diagnostic systems. You will assist our team with the tools, data, and technical support needed to perform at their highest level, with a focus on European vehicles. Your work will include managing diagnostic tools, computer systems, data, and offering solutions that help maintain our high standards of service. Your expertise in technology will directly contribute to improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our technicians.
Core Responsibilities:
Tech Support & Diagnostics: Oversee and troubleshoot automotive diagnostic systems and specialized equipment used for European vehicle repair.
IT Systems Management: Maintain and update the shop’s software, databases, and technology systems, ensuring optimal functionality and uptime.
Tech Training Support: Assist in training technicians on the proper use of automotive diagnostic tools, computer systems, and advanced repair technology.
Data Management: Manage data from scans, diagnostics, and repair reports, ensuring accuracy and efficient use.
Collaboration: Work directly with the foreman and technicians to resolve technical issues and identify new tools or systems that could improve shop operations.
Software Updates & Maintenance: Perform software updates, backups, and routine maintenance for all shop computers and diagnostic devices.
Inventory Management: Track and maintain the shop’s technological tools and equipment inventory, ensuring all diagnostic and repair tools are functioning correctly.
Non-Core Responsibilities:
Email and Administrative Support: Handle routine administrative tasks, including managing email correspondence, organizing repair records, and assisting with scheduling as needed.
Tech Documentation: Create or update technical manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and internal documentation for system processes.
Customer Liaison: Occasionally support customer inquiries related to technical repair updates, vehicle diagnostics, and system functions.
Day-to-Day Activities:
Morning check-in with Foreman and technicians to assess the technical needs for the day.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technology issues, ensuring all systems are functioning properly.
Monitor the diagnostics and scanning tools during repair jobs, providing real-time technical support as needed.
Update and maintain the software and systems for diagnostic tools and computers.
Provide support in training new technicians on technology tools and systems.
Maintain clear communication with the Foreman regarding any technical issues or new technological needs.
How the Position Fits into the Organization:
This role works closely with the Foreman, technicians, and other administrative staff to ensure the smooth operation of the shop. You will be the go-to person for any technical issues, whether they relate to diagnostic tools, computer systems, or software updates. Your work will directly support the Foreman’s ability to manage the team and deliver quality service to our customers.
Hard Skills Qualifications:
Proficient in computer systems, diagnostic tools, and automotive repair technology (preferably for European vehicles).
Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics, repair procedures, and software used for vehicle diagnostics.
Willing to learn automotive software such as OBD-II scanners, Autel, OE software and other diagnostic tools.
Knowledge of computer programming or scripting for automotive applications (preferred but not required).
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and find solutions quickly.
Familiarity with inventory management systems and software updates.
Strong understanding of Email, PDF, Technical writing, Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Salary & Benefits:
Salary Range: $35,000 - $60,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
