The Data Systems Engineer, is responsible for designing, managing, and administering data infrastructure to extract and organize data in support of the Army National Guard (ARNG). This position is in direct support to the ARNG’s Enterprise Architecture Branch (EAB) under the Guard Enterprise Cyber Operations Support (GECOS) program and requires someone with a current and active Secret clearance.GECOS is a Cybersecurity and IT Service Management (ITSM) contract in support of the operation, protection, modernization, expansion, and further evolution of the ARNG’s global Information Technology (IT) services including networking, compute, storage, infrastructure, applications, hosting, and program management services. The GECOS program supports the ARNG enterprise IT infrastructure, its Wide Area Network (WAN), authentication and directory services, cybersecurity, application hosting, and associated services in accordance with best practices and in accordance with Army, DISA, and DoD policies, initiatives, and directives. GECOS uses ITIL best practices framework as the basis for its ITSM model.To be successful in this position you need to be collaborative and willing to work within a team. While you will need to be a self-starter completing tasks on your own, working together is critical in this role. You will be interfacing with the client and senior staff. Therefore, you should be articulate in your communications because your opinion matters. You will need to explain technical intricacies in a way that is easily understood.HOW THE DATA ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Collaborate with ARNG Department Heads, development teams, business users, and IT operations to determine data storage and organizational needs to create and maintain data infrastructure for the Directorate, Offices of Primary Responsibility (OPRs), the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and the 54 States and Territories
Develop and implement security policies and procedures and systems and services to protect data and applications
Assist in identifying ARNG Enterprise internal and external data sources
Determine requirements and identify installation solutions for new databases
Monitor system performance and identify areas for improvement in current systems
Design modeling tools, spreadsheets, status dashboards, flowcharts, and other types of presentations and / or tools
Coordinate with other team members to reach project milestones and deadlines
Audit databases regularly to maintain quality
Ability to analyze and present statistical information
Create and maintain documentation, to include manuals, training materials, technical specifications, design reports, etc
Ensure data integrity – accurate, complete, consistent, and valid throughout life cycle
Ensure data and infrastructure is accessible, secure, and readily available to other stakeholders when needed
Collaborate to interpret, communicate, implement, organize, and maintain both AS-IS and TO-BE infrastructure diagrams
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering or relevant field with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience
Required Experience:
Modeling tools, examples include: Visio, Magic Draw, Cameo, ARIS / EKR, etc
Data Management and Visualization software and tools, examples include: Advana, matplotlib, ggplot, d3.js., Tableau, etc
Machine learning methods, examples include: k-Nearest Neighbors, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, etc
Familiarity with SharePoint, MS Teams, Azure, and other Microsoft technologies
Proficiency in handling imperfections in data
Desired Experience:
Knowledge of Power Platform architecture and best practices
Administering, configuring, and customizing Power Platform, including PowerApps, Power Automate, Power BI, and related components
Knowledge of Vantage platform and Gabriel Nimbus system
Familiarity with ITIL and ServiceNow
Certifications:
Ability to obtain appropriate certifications to achieve a minimum of a DoD IAT Level II (Sec+ or equivalent) within 60 days of start date
Ability to obtain ITIL v4 Foundation within 6 months of start date
When 8140 requirements are implemented on program/contract, employee will need to conform to 8140 certification standards.
Clearance Level Requirements:
Must have a minimum of an active Secret clearance at time of interview and candidate must maintain active clearance.

Location:
On Customer Site (Arlington & Falls Church, VA).
Three (3) days onsite with up to two (2) days telework. Onboarding/transition in period requires on-site support up to 60 days (must completely in-process with all credentials, accounts, access, and understanding of role and responsibilities before telework allowed). GECOS work schedules are subject to change on direction by mission requirements from GDIT or USG leadership.

Travel: Up to 10% possible
The likely salary range for this position is $131,750 - $178,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary.
