(GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.We have an exciting opportunity for an Undergraduate Intern with a field of study in Mechanical Engineering to join our ASI Engineering team in Poway, California!Within the ME Systems Integration Group this position assists the engineering staff in the layout, design, analysis, investigation, and resolution of routine engineering problems of limited scope. This position is responsible for providing technical design solutions for a range of design problems from avionics packaging to structural mounting provisions, and component assembly of products using CAD (Computer-aid design) engineering software. Contributes to the completion of assigned engineering tasks.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, participates in the day-to-day activities of assigned functional area assisting in the completion of routine and non-routine tasks.
Assists in applying knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve problems.
Utilizes 3D CAD software for theoretical design solutions.
Develops aircraft integration design solutions and assigned structural mounting provisions.
Details designs and drawings related to component assembly, structural assemblies, mechanisms, and devices.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Requires active enrollment and currently attending as an undergraduate student at a recognized college or university.
Applicants who will have completed their undergraduate degree by the time the internship program would begin, must be planning to continue in a graduate program immediately following the conclusion of the internship program.
3.0 cumulative GPA preferred
Ability to understand new concepts and apply them accurately.
Ability to follow general and detailed instructions as well as organizational policies and procedures.
Basic communication and interpersonal skills to enable effective interface with internal professionals.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Basic computer skills.
