Junior Administrative Biologist, USPTO
ASRC Federal Professional Services is seeking a Junior Administrative Biologist to join ourteam supporting the US Patent and Trademark Office. This role is a mixture of high-level administration and the biological sciences and will be provided extensive training in the patent prosecution and sequence listing rules in the patent environment.
Processes and prepares sequences for pre-grant publication and issuance and performs related quality control.
Reviews Raw Sequence Listing reports for compliance with the USPTO sequence rules and annotates errors to alert the patent applicant on how to correctly fix the effort.
Communicates via email with scientists and engineers so composing emails that have clarity and are concise.
Troubleshoots work and resolves discrepancies as required.
Provides data entry and record keeping (must be organized).
Requirements :Do you have a Biology or Biochemistry degree (Associate's or Bachelor's) and want to gain work experience in a junior role? This position will provide training and mentoring as you learn to provide the correct scientific language in the area of biology, specifically DNA sequencing. This role incorporates both administrative and science-related duties.
Associates degree in Biology, Biochemistry or Pre-Med or other biological sciences; a Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required.
Coursework on DNA sequencing is a plus.
Ability to quickly learn new technical skills, procedures and specialized software.
Excellent data entry skills and proficiency with the MS Office Suite (especially Outlook and Word).
Ability to work in technical language in the field of biology or medicine and comfortably interact with scientists and engineers
Passion for Quality Assurance which requires great attention to detail.
Proven written and interpersonal skills with an understanding of expectations for giving high-caliber customer service.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and work in a high production environment while providing accuracy.
Any knowledge about library information systems or the patent application process is a plus.
Permanent Residency or US Citizenship is required in order to obtain a federal government Public Trust clearance.
