Experienced Veterinary Technician

We are located in Ledgewood, NJ and offer a wide range of services to the community including medical, surgical, dental, grooming, and boarding. We are looking for an experienced technician to join our team. The right candidate must have veterinary technical experience and possess the skills and qualifications listed below. You'll enjoy a 4-day work week and NO weekends or on-call! We do require 2 late nights.
Required Skills:
-Venipuncture
-Catheter Placement
-Anesthesia Administration and Monitoring MUST BE PROFICIENT
-Drug Calculations
-Surgical Pre and Post-op Care
-Dental Scale and Polish
-Dental Radiographs
-Proficiency in Radiographs and Positioning
-Proper Administration of Injections (IV, IM, SQ)
-Use of Laboratory Equipment (in-house lab machines, microscope, etc.)
-Preparation and Reading of Specimens (ear/skin cytology, blood samples, etc.)
-Triage Patients
-Keep Accurate Medical Records
-General Hospital Maintenance
Qualifications
-Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) desirable, but not required
-2+ years of veterinary technician experience
-Working knowledge of standard industry tools and equipment
-Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare
-Passion for working with animals and their owners
-Excellent communication and organizational skills
-Strong work ethic and track record of being reliable
-Possess flexibility, positivity, and a “can-do” attitude in a busy environment
-Able to restrain larger pets when necessary
-Able to lift 40 pounds
-Proficient use of computers
The right candidate is a team player who is willing to teach others as well as learn new skills. Must contribute to the team’s daily function by cleaning/sanitizing, restocking supplies, answering phone calls, and other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position. Monday and Thursday evenings (we are open until 8:00pm) are a must.
