Job DescriptionCivil Service Title- Assistant Civil Engineer IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION CANDIDATE MUST BE SERVING PERMANENTLY IN THE TITLE OF ASSISTANT CIVIL ENGINEER OR BE REACHABLE THE OPEN - COMPETATIVE CIVIL SERVICE LIST, EXAM # 5015, OR ELIGIBLE UNDER THE 55A PROGRAM. PLEASE INDICATE ON YOUR RESUME. Under supervision, serves as Assistant Civil Engineer in Materials Engineering Unit, QA in Bureau of Engineering Review & Support, Division of Bridges. Ensures that the construction materials meet their specification requirements. Reviews shop drawings and material test reports to accept/reject materials. Performs IAST (Independent Assurance Sampling and Testing) to evaluate the performance of sampling and testing by field inspectors and the testing equipment pertaining to concrete, Superpave (HMA) and soils. Performs other related duties as needed.Preferred SkillsAbility to communicate in English in both verbal and written formats. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.
