Job Summary

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the financial stability. This includes assisting the CEO/Executive Director with management and oversight of all banking and financial records, writing and execution of budgets, complying with all grant guidelines and instruction, invoicing of grants, general bookkeeping, financial reporting to the board, cooperating with external auditors and protector of all financial documents. The Staff Accountant also works closely with the Executive Director in preparing and executing budgets and reports.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, accounting, Non-Profit management or other related education is desired or CPA preferred. This position also requires a minimum of three years’ experience in Non-Profit accounting or a related field that demonstrates the ability and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, financial reporting and basic bookkeeping, and GAAP accounting standards. The ability to work in a team environment, communicate effectively yet politely and supervise others in a professional manner are also a requirement of this position. Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Prepare request for funds/invoices for all current grants.

2. Prepare budgets and budget amendments as needed. Budgets and any amended budgets are to be presented to the CEO/Executive Director for approval. Budgets are to include salary allocations and breakdowns, which are also presented to the CEO/Executive Director and Board of Directors (also compensation committee) for approval.

3. Review and discuss with CEO/Executive Director the budgets vs. actual report throughout the year (monthly and quarterly) to make certain expenses are within submitted budgets.

4. Review financials with Senior Accountant and the Executive Director quarterly.

5. Work closely with the auditors annually. Implement fiscally sound suggested policies and procedures made by the auditors

6. Protector of all financial documents.

7. Work with the CEO/Executive Director to see that the agency’s insurance coverage is adequate and meets grant requirements.

8. Requires knowledge and understanding of the Agency’s grant requirements, rules, regulations and instructions.

9. Attend Board of Directors meetings and report on financial activity quarterly as required.

10. Work with the CEO/Executive Director on agency accounting policy updates.

11. Participate in events held by and for the benefit of the agency.
