Mechanic, Commercial roofing Company
Long established local/ regional commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal company looking for a skilled Mechanic with a wide range of mechanical and maintenance abilities.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITES:
Oversee scheduled and non-scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs to vehicles and equipment including light-duty and heavy-duty trucks, trailers, construction equipment, boom cranes, small engine, and power machinery including eclectic, propane, gas-, and diesel-powered tools/ equipment. Ensure quality control and evaluation of preventative maintenance and repair services.
GENERAL DUTIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on various types of vehicles, powered machinery, and construction equipment.
Perform major and minor electrical, hydraulic, welding, and mechanical repairs to both gas and diesel vehicles.
Conduct preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment. This includes but not limited to various construction equipment, boom cranes, utility trailers, light and HD vehicles, and small engine powered machinery, etc.
Ensure shop safety and cleanliness and abide by safety policies. Identify safety hazards and report unsafe conditions to supervisor.
Complete appropriate reporting on vehicle repairs and maintenance using tablet/phone applications.
Schedule and arrange for outsourcing of repairs if necessary.
Road test vehicles to verify complaints and or repairs.
Respond to service calls.
Perform other assigned duties.
ADDITIONAL:
Mechanic will be assigned a company truck for use as well as tools.
Good English oral and written communication skills.
Phone/ Tablet literate and ability to use fleet maintenance applications.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with frequent interruptions.
Not Required but a Bonus:
Perform inspections of vehicles as required by Department of Transportation (DOT), and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR).
Bilingual (Spanish) is a PLUS.
REQUIREMENTS:
Highschool diploma, completions of G.E.D., or equivalent vocational school or short-term courses in automative or truck repairs.
More than 4 years' experience in repairs and service of diesel engine and light/ medium duty trucks, and construction equipment.
Valid Driver's license is required (CDL is preferred).
EXPERIENCE:
Heavy Equipment Repair/ Maintenance: 2 years Preferred.
Diesel Engine Repair/ Maintenance: 2 years preferred.
Small Engine and Power Equipment Repair and Maintenance: 2 years preferred.
Light Duty Truck Repair/ Maintenance: 4 Years Preferred.
Hydraulic System Repair: 2 years Preferred.
Electrical System Repair: 2 years Preferred.
