Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,918 - $3,396/Mon. (@50% FTE)DUTIES:Performs scientific research in an area broadly related to NASA Astrophysics, using theory and observations, to study the evolution of high-redshift galaxies through numerical models. Uses results to improve our understanding of the formation and evolution of galaxies. The Galaxy Evolution postdoctoral position provides an opportunity for highly qualified postdoctoral scholars to conduct independent research that is broadly related to the new observations being obtained with the James Webb Space telescope (JWST). Research will be conducted using theoretical modeling to interpret JWST observations of high-redshift galaxies.PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION PhD from an accredited college or university in Astronomy or Physics. (PhD candidates may apply but must submit evidence of PhD completion upon hire).EXPERIENCE One to three (1-3) years of experience in observational and theoretical stellar astrophysics, interpretation, and analysis of astronomical observations as well as stellar structure and evolution.KNOWLEDGE Knowledge of stellar structure and evolution, asteroseismology and galactic astronomy.ABILITIES and SKILLS Ability to publish research results in renowned international journals and present at international conferences. Ability to work in a team.Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to complete the UH Title IX training within twelve (12) months from date of hire.
