Position Details Position Information Position Title Weekend Circulation Supervisor (Part-Time) Position Type Staff Requisition Number 21315 Department Library Title of Supervisor Head of Circulation and Building Services Full-time/ Part-time Part-time Work Hours per Week 11 Weeks Per Year 44 Months Per Year: 11 Work Days Saturday/Sunday Work Hours 11:30 am - 5:00 pm End Date (required for Temporary, Per Diem, Independent Contractor/Agency): Salary Range $17.00 per hour Hours and Months 11 hours per week, 11 months per year Exemption Status Non-Exempt Staff Job Description Job Description Summary Nazareth University seeks a Weekend Circulation Supervisor (Part-Time) service-oriented professional to join a team of dedicated staff who work to provide library users with the resources they needs for research and learning. Supervises circulation operations on the weekend, providing high level of customer service and expert assistance to all patrons who use the Lorette Wilmot Library. Supervises, trains and assigns tasks to student workers, up to 2 at a time, a total of 25 students employed by this department. Responsible for security of the library building, resolving policy issues, and carrying out proper procedure in event of an emergency, as well as responsible for opening of the building on weekends, and closing upon occasion.Assists with maintenance of the stacks, including shelving material and the arrangement and shifting of collections. Overseeing traditional circulation operations such as checking books in and out, collecting fines, and registration of new patrons. Additionally, assists patrons in locating material, and provides general reference services, including help with the various databases and other web-based resources.Essential Functions

Provide staffing and supervision of the Information Desk of the Lorette Wilmot Library.

Responsible for the security of the building, as well as the opening/closing of the building.

Provide high level customer service by responding to patron needs and questions, and interacting with faculty, staff, students, outside patrons and vendors.

Communicates library policy to patrons.

Receives and resolves complaints or refers patrons to the appropriate department.

Trains student assistants on computer system operation, library policies and procedures, and customer service.

Trains students to assist patrons in the above library duties.

Coordinates with the Head of Circulation as to stack management in order to complete circulation and library related projects.

Communicates with other library staff via email or in person to discuss and resolve problems, as well as discuss ideas for improvement, and keep updated on library plans and activities.

Assists and trains patrons in the use equipment and technologies by answering questions, offering basic technical assistance, troubleshooting computer, printer and copier issues, assisting in navigating the website, locating databases in order to help patrons use library resources.

Required Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills

Associate’s Degree

Proven ability to work independently, be self-motivated and manage priorities without day-to-day supervision.

Exceptional organizational skills and be able to attend to and prioritize projects.

Ability to successfully manage interpersonal working relationships.

As appropriate, collaborate with staff in other units and divisions to achieve the goals of the University.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Handles confidential information sensitively and appropriately.

Preferred Education, Experience, Technology Applications and Skills

Previous academic library experience, experience with ALMA a plus.

1-3 years of customer service experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Train, assigns tasks and supervises 2 student workers at a time, with 25 students rotating working at the Information Desk.

Physical Requirements

This position requires candidates to lift/carry up to 20 lbs and push/pull up to 80 lbs. Due to the nature of the position, repetitive motion is required; including, but not limited to, standing, walking, reaching, stooping and climbing.

Equipment to be used

Standard Office equipment (phone, copiers, scanner, printers, computers (PC & Mac and various electronic devices). Various software programs, including the ExLibris LMS (Primo and Alma) , Moodle, Microsoft Office and multiple Databases.
