Full Time Chef (Mon-Fri)

Inspire Malibu is looking for caring and compassionate workers that will provide excellent patient care and service to our clients!

We are seeking a Chef to join our team! We are a luxury treatment facility located in Agoura Hills. We are looking for a motivated and compassionate individual with chef experience.

The chef will be maintaining the kitchen, organize, stocking, ordering and meal plan. You will be responsible to create a nutritional, balanced menu for clients and providing various meals for the clients based on their dietary needs. The chef must also make sure all meals are presentable and creative.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

- Prepares, cooks, and bakes meals for the facility

- Ensures menu is a balance nutritional meals

- Require to offer meat and vegetarian entrees

- Prepares modified diets and any additional items requested by the clients

- Operates grill, mixers, and other related equipment

- Assists in cleaning kitchen and equipment after meals

- Maintains health and safety standards

- Maintains appropriate levels of inventory of non-perishable items

- Communicates with staff on clients eating habits

- Uses creativity to make dishes look beautiful and appealing to clients

- Enforces all policies and procedures

- Report any unsafe conditions, injuries and or accidents to administration

- Assists with the departmental budget and how to save on costs

- Reports and communicates with Program Director

- Other duties as assigned

We are are zero food waste facility! You will also be responsible for saving food scraps and for our active compost that will be used to regenerate the soil for our garden!

Qualification Guidelines:

- Knowledgeable of food safety and sanitation

- Working knowledge of methods for preparing food in quantity and considerable variety with minimum of waste

- Ability to plan meals, follow recipes, prepare tasty food, and to serve it attractively

- Maintain personal and kitchen area clean and neat

- Must be flexible in work hours in order to meet facility needs

- Must maintain self-control in volatile or hostile situations, such as when verbally or physically confronted

- Must be able to set therapeutic limits and maintain therapeutic distance with clients and maintain therapeutic boundaries with clients during treatment and after discharge

- Must be able to drive clients occasionally

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand and walk

Ability to reach above, at, or below waist height; ability to kneel, bend, stoop, turn, and twist

Ability to hear well enough to detect noise and the ability to discern odors

Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10lbs.; occasionally 20-50lbs.

Ability to manipulate large and small tools

Work Environment:

Ability to work in a kitchen environment where noise levels change

Ability to manage high risk clients

Ability to adapt to changes (ABC- Always Be Changing)

Education/ Experience:

High School diploma required

A degree or certification from a culinary institution preferred

ServSafe certification required

Clean driving record

Ability to read, write, and speak in English. Spanish bilingual welcome!

Minimum of 2 years of experience in restaurant/hospitality preferred

Experience in mental health facility helpful

This is a full time position. The right person should be available 5 days, Monday-Friday.
