Employment Type:Full timeShift:Description:SUMMARYReporting to the Director Medical Staff Services, Medical Staff, this position is responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the organized medical staff in fulfilling its Board-delegated responsibilities for credentialing, privileging, and oversight of quality assurance activities. Medical staff coordinators are important gatekeepers of patient safety. Responsibilities of medical staff coordinators include coordinating and monitoring medical staff services functions, critically analyzing data, knowledge of various federal rulings and accreditation standards pertaining to the functions of the medical staff and advanced practice professionals and assisting in the credentialing and re-credentialing of all providers.REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business administration or related field is required. Direct medical staff services experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
Three (3) years of experience in medical staff services, healthcare administration or medical office environment, is required.
National Association of Medical Staff Services certification of Certified Professional Credentialing Specialists (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) is required or must be obtained within four (4) years of direct experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database management and internet research, as well as the ability to query multiple databases is required.
Professional demeanor, excellent critical thinking skills, strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, treating internal and external customers with courtesy and respect are required.
Ability to complete job responsibilities with a high degree of accuracy, requiring a sense of self-direction and a strong sense of responsibility and accountability to ensure that work is completed accurately and timely is required.
Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards related to organized medical staff is required.
