CNC Machinist Lead
Job Title: Machinist LeadJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Machinist Lead to provide hands-on leadership through ongoing coaching and cross-training of employees. The ideal candidate will train team members to identify and eliminate Non-Value Added (NVA) activities, assist in the training of new employees, and ensure quality production processes are followed. This role involves close collaboration with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other production supervisors to identify improvement areas and resolve problems.Responsibilities
Provide hands-on leadership through ongoing coaching and cross-training employees.
Train team members to identify and eliminate Non-Value Added (NVA) activities.
Assist in the initial and ongoing training of new employees, including machine operation, understanding daily priorities, and completing necessary paperwork.
Provide input in the evaluation and development of fellow team members.
Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and other production supervisors to identify and resolve issues.
Maintain open communication with team members to convey concerns and ideas to management.
Fill in for team members engaged in continuous improvement activities or when absent.
Execute production schedule and chart hourly progress.
Monitor and maintain supplies and materials, creating work orders for maintenance as needed.
Attend department meetings to communicate specific customer requirements, scheduled work hours, and quality standards.
Address quality concerns or defects and conduct training sessions to raise awareness and resolve issues.
Facilitate continuous improvement projects and maintain adherence to standard work sheets.
Ensure a safe working environment and maintain an acceptable level of 6S (Safety and 5S).
Essential Skills
2 or more years as a Team Lead in manufacturing, particularly in a skilled machining environment.
Experience with CNC Machinery, including machine maintenance and G & M programming.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.
Proven leadership skills, including the ability to influence others without direct authority and effectively train, mentor, and develop team members.
Attention to detail and accuracy with expertise in reading blueprints/schematics and understanding of metrology.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in using specific measuring tools.
Experience in blueprint reading and machine operation.
Familiarity with programming and changeover procedures.
