Design Engineering Manager
Atkinson SeattleDesign Engineering ManagerAtkinson Construction is currently seeking a highly talented Engineering Manager. As an Engineering Manager, you will provide engineering design services for temporary structures to our construction projects, primarily in Washington and California. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Perform analysis on existing structures and design temporary supports, falsework and access systems for a variety of bridge construction, erection, and other heavy civil construction projects
Prepare design drawings, calculations, and reports for use by our projects and estimating
Participate in the estimating process
Participate in meetings with clients and project team members
Maintain good relationships with our teams using strong interpersonal skills
Stay up-to-date with the state of practice, and integrate innovation and technology in design
Assist in training and development of other staff members
Occasional travel to provide project onsite support
Successfully delivering a design that is on budget, on schedule, and compliant with program standards
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
2 to 5 years of experience in temporary structures design and/or construction of bridges
P.E. license in Washington and, or California
Strong communication skills ( both written and verbal) and ability to work in a team environment
Solid organizational skills with attention to detail
Experience using current design codes like AASHTO, AISC and ACI
Proficiency in AutoCAD
Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of formwork and falsework
Clear understanding of integrated design and construction schedules
Ability to lead a collaborative design process with various stakeholders
Strong leadership, communication and relationship-management skills
Ability to train, manage, and influence direct reports
Ability to motivate and collaborate with peers working at other firms
Ability to participate in pursuit efforts for design-build projects
Self-motivated, organized team player with ability to manage work priorities in a fast-paced environment
Atkinson offers a total compensation package that includes base salary, bonus potential, and a comprehensive benefit package that includes health benefits (medical and dental plans), paid time off (vacation, sick and holiday), financial benefits (retirement plan with both match and annual company contribution, life insurance, short and long term disability, and commuter benefits). Base salaries will be determined by factors such as geographic location, education, skills, experience, and market considerations.
