Job Description:Are you looking for interesting and meaningful work, a fun and flexible atmosphere, and opportunities to learn, grow and excel? If so, then welcome to Schnabel! We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel is seeking a temporary full-time intern with a Civil Engineering/Geology background to support our growing business. The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern’s practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems under the supervision of senior engineering personnel. The position will be held from May through August of 2025.Job Responsibilities:

Performing geotechnical field work including observing geotechnical subsurface exploration, using GPS to layout borings, and performing groundwater monitoring.

Conduct field studies and collect data on geological formations that analyze rock samples, minerals, to identify their composition and structure.

Use geophysical techniques to study the subsurface structures and composition

Performing construction observation and materials testing at construction sites

Performing laboratory testing

Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS

Providing support to engineers on preparing geotechnical proposals and reports

Some travel may be required to customers sites

Required Skills/Experience:

Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Geology Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program is preferred. Enrollment in other college engineering or relevant science programs may be considered.

Prior professional work or summer intern work in a related field is desirable but not required

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.

Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy

Ability to work with direction as part of a team

Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work

Desire and willingness to work outdoors at undeveloped sites and construction sites

Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds

Other Requirements:

Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check

Ability to pass a pre-employment screening

The compensation range for a Civil Engineering/Geology Intern is between $17.00 to $24.20. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors.
