You'll work alongside a team passionate about pet care that ensures our pets have the best quality of care while participating in cutting edge pet food research. Our center is located near the metropolitan area of Kansas City, within 30 minutes of the Kansas City International airport. As the Veterinary Manager, you’ll plan, organize, and perform of all necessary veterinary procedures to ensure the health and well-being of cats and dogs at the development center, while performing and organizing in nutrition research protocols. Come prepared to have direct program authority and ensure that adequate veterinary care and all aspects of animal welfare, in accordance with regulatory and veterinary practices, is provided for our pets.
Provide leadership in the care and resolution of complex, medical cases, and operational issues that arise within the Pet Care facility
Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the animal welfare and preventive medicine program for our dogs and cats
Train and supervise veterinary staff regarding technical procedures, husbandry practices, and appropriate deployment of animals
Act as the primary liaison with USDA and other state regulatory agencies
Demonstrate knowledge of and comply with the Animal Welfare Act and all procedures and protocols in the Nestlé R&D Pet Care Manual
Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures by Veterinary team including good laboratory practices (GLP), safety and quality
Provide health histories and certificates for all dogs and cats that are adopted from facility
Facilitate the sharing of best practices with veterinarians of pet care centers in other regions
Requirements
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree
Valid veterinary license for the State of Missouri or the ability to obtain the license
6+ year of professional clinical veterinary experience with feline and/or canine patients
6+ years of experience conducting veterinary surgeries and/or dentistry
2+ years of experience in a supervisory/leadership level role
Other
USDA accreditation is preferred
3+ years of experience in a veterinary research environment is preferred

Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
