GENERAL PURPOSE:Responsible for the development of key hospital accounts/affiliations in DSA, Eastern region, as well as direct and manage FLDRN's Family Services programs, including our aftercare program for donor families. Assists with AOC call for the organization. Serves as a member of the FLDRN's leadership team and collaborates with other departments within FLDRN, transplant centers, and donor/recipient communities to help further advance the objectives of the program.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides direction and support to assigned staff to provide real time support for donor families and Aftercare. Offers therapeutic interactions with families of potential organ, eye and tissue donors to increase consent rates for organ, eye and tissue donation. Serves as an expert and spokesperson on family support and offers the opportunity of organ, eye and tissue donation to potential donor families. Reviews and makes recommendations for use of all bereavement materials, including brochures, donor family care boxes, etc. Ensures communication with donor families aftercare program is occurring in a timely basis. Fosters relationships with external support services throughout the community. Assists with media exposure relating to special programs and activities relating to donor families. Plans and assists with coordination of special programs for donor families. Implements a successful training program, ensuring family service coordinators are utilizing best practices. Works directly with the FSC team to ensure every opportunity for donation is maximized by ensuring best practices are utilized through direct observation, reviewing, trending and tracking data and performance. Takes part on call schedule for training and times of short staff.

Works in a collaborative fashion with leadership team to implement strategies in assigned hospitals/affiliations in order to increase the number of organ, eye and tissue donation recoveries performed in hospitals they serve. Develops strategies to increase the number of organ and tissue donors in their assigned hospitals. Performs Medical Record Reviews to identify missed potential donors. Develops 90-Day action plans to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the donation process and identifies/implements action plans to overcome the barriers, leading to an increase in donation. Establishes positive relationships with hospital personnel inclusive of CEO¿s, administrators, physicians, department directors, and nurses to increase organ and tissue referrals. Establishes positive relations with community and professional leaders to enhance organ and tissue donation. Schedules and conducts formal and informal in-service educational programs with hospital personnel to create awareness and facilitation of donations. Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of the donation process including AOPO, OPTN/UNOS policies and procedures. Monitors hospital compliance with regulatory agencies (CMS, JCAHO, DNV, HRSA). Participates in local, regional and national initiatives to adopt and implement best practices in the field of the hospital development.

Provides 24 availability on assigned call days (approximately 10 days per month) as administrator on call and/or charge. Collaborates with leadership to ensure FLDRN is achieving desired outcomes and following protocols/policies 24 hours/day. Ensures staffing levels are meeting the needs of the organization to achieve best outcomes. Provides and models excellent customer service.

Oversees hiring, training and supervising of assigned staff. Works in a collaborative fashion with the leadership team. Ensures staff competency in all areas as appropriate. Attends all relevant FLDRN meetings and assists with the accomplishment of the mission.

Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field required; MBA or Masters in Hospital Administration preferred.

5 years of critical care experience or in the organ procurement field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience. Required knowledge, skills and abilities: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills; Ability to read, analyze and interpret common industry-related journals, financial reports, and legal documents; Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints from clients, regulatory agencies or members of the business community; Ability to effectively write reports and articles that conform to appropriate style and format. ABTC certification preferred.
