Chief Supvr Imaging Radiology
GENERAL PURPOSE:Provides overall supervision of the clinical operations of the Department of Imaging Sciences. Responsibilities include oversight of services provided by Imaging Sciences, including ED, Inpatient, Outpatient and Research/Clinical trials. Manages clinical managers in all areas as defined. Works in close collaboration with faculty and nursing management.SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:Under general direction and with considerable latitude for exercise of independent judgement:
Serves as overall manager of all Imaging Technical Staff Supervisors. Makes decisions related to recruitment, hiring, transfers, promotions, discipline and termination in accordance to UR Medicine policies. Develops optimal staffing model for operations of all Imaging areas of responsibility. Develops optimal staffing model for operations in accordance with departmental plan/hours of operation. Conducts annual performance evaluations. Works closely with Imaging Sr. OperationS Administrator to ensure staff development opportunities.
Collaborates with Director, Financial Manager and Imaging Sr. Operations Administrator with administrations of yearly wage and salary program. Recommends equity and compensation reviews for staff.
Designs business plans with Director, Financial Manager and Sr. Operations Administrator for all imaging operations expansion, FTE increases as needed to meet increase volume demands. Maintains staffing levels and OT usage within established Imaging budgets. Works with Director, Financial Manager and Sr. Operations Administrator to develop annual operating budgets.
Develops criteria for maintenance of current accurate job descriptions, department policies and procedures and Joint Commission compliance.
Directs and develops, updates and implements staff training and orientation materials. Develops and maintains staff competencies in accordance with UR Medicine and Joint Commission standards.
Develops, updates and implements technical training for staff on protocols, procedures, applications and hardware. Develops and maintains staff competencies in accordance with UR Medicine and Joint Commission standards. Keeps up to date with changes in technology and advises faculty on protocol changes, applications enhancements, upgrade paths and hardware/software advancements.
Serves as QA officer, recognizing and reporting image quality, equipment issues or patient safety issues. Interfaces with vendors and Imaging Clinical Engineering to ensure all equipment PMs and necessary maintenance is conducted in a timely manner as required by policies and regulations.
Ensures integrity of all patient data for accurate patient identification, data transfer and data storage/PACS.
Ensures all scheduling and billing codes are properly used by technical staff to ensure compliance and maximize revenue.
Oversees Imaging ED and IR clerical personnel, strives to create a positive interface with all customers, patients, vendors, referring agencies and the URMC community. Leads staff by positive example with clear and concise communication. Leads staff with IICare and like institutional initiatives. Makes decision for service recovery.
Supervises Inventory Manager and materials management functions. Ensures staff adhere to established protocols for appropriate inventory usage and waste minimization.
Serves as primary research coordinator for clinical trials and other research projects.
Collaborates with Project Coordinator and design team in the creation of new/improved space decisions.
Participates in UR Medicine wide initiatives and committees, e/g. Clinical Operations, Patient Safety and PFCC committees.
QUALIFICATIONS :Bachelor’s degree and 7-10 years of clinical experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably at an academic hospital/teaching institution preferred ; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Successful completion from an approved School of Radiologic Technology, Ultrasound or Nuclear Medicine Program.
