Content Operations is ultimately responsible for successfully delivering Disney’s entertainment and sports content to millions of people every day. This involves developing, operating, and managing a global content supply chain – the myriad of steps involved from taking a finalized TV show/movie, or live piece of content, from inside Disney to audiences around the globe, in their preferred language and format. This team also manages technology operations in Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.Job Summary:The Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology Transmission Engineering group provides 24-hour support for Disney’s event-based and linear streaming platforms; Disney+, ESPN+, and HULU. Transmission Engineers operate from the Transmission Operation Center (TOC) or work remotely as required by leadership.Responsibilities include but are not limited to acquisition health, configuration, distribution, switching, and quality control monitoring of signals, regardless of the format, example: linear television, IP, fiber, satellite etc. Additional responsibilities include ensuring all signals meet strict quality control standards and adjustments to video, audio and captions as required. Engineers are technical liaisons to internal and external parties regarding troubleshooting signal issues, as well as notifying appropriate parties of signal outages. P1 Transmission Engineers are expected to keep precise notes and demonstrate excellent communication. Candidates should possess an eagerness to learn and adaptable to new broadcast and IP technologies to meet our current and future needs. As well as a flexible schedule to meet the fast-paced 24/7 environment.Responsibilities:
Routing and monitoring multiple A/V feeds to and from our facilities.
Quickly identify and resolve issues in a live production environment.
Remotely configure hardware as required for live events and linear acquisition and distribution.
Provide professional, courteous and timely technical support.
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of 1-year in Broadcast Engineering, Acquisition, Transmission or similar work environment, and/or College technical degree, technical certifications or equivalent practical experience.
Working knowledge of SD/HD-SDI, ASI, MPEG and J2K signal types.
Working knowledge of transmission and acquisition equipment and systems.
Working knowledge of analog and digital audio signals.
Understanding signal flows and CAD drawings.
Experience in similar fast paced environments.
Experience with Microsoft Office suite/Google suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong communication skills via email/chat communication platforms
Experience with Evertz, TAG VS, Ateme, Sencore and other leading manufacturers in routers, switchers and terminal gear.
Knowledge of networking and TS Over IP principles, (HLS, RTMP, SRT, Multicast, Unicast etc)
Required Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent
The hiring range for this position in New York City is $74,900 - $100,400 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
