First opened in 1998 as a French brasserie, the restaurant has been headed by Chef Daniel Humm since 2006 and owned by his company Make it Nice Hospitality since 2011. Eleven Madison Park has evolved significantly under his leadership both in food and in experience, earning several accolades including 4 stars from the New York Times and 3 stars from the Michelin guide. In 2021, Eleven Madison Park reopened its doors post-pandemic as a completely plant-based restaurant. Job Purpose:The Porter Team Manager will collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and executive team to lead, manage, and oversee the porter team. This role will ensure the team meets cleanliness, maintenance, and operational standards in line with company goals, while fostering a positive and efficient work environment.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Staffing: Lead and develop all members of the porter team to ensure high levels of performance and engagement. Oversee the training and development of Porters and the Porter Supervisor, ensuring alignment with company standards and practices. Foster a positive and supportive work environment that reflects the culture of the "Make It Nice" properties. Build a strong team dynamic and maintain morale through effective leadership. Management: Supervise the porter team to ensure all daily tasks are completed efficiently and thoroughly. Maintain a professional relationship with kitchen and dining room teams to ensure seamless coordination and a positive working atmosphere. Ensure all cleanliness, sanitation, and maintenance standards are consistently upheld across the restaurant, in line with EMP Kitchen expectations. Ensure daily operations run smoothly with minimal disruption during service. Manage the maintenance and upkeep of the building to support operational needs. Financial Management: Monitor and control controllable costs to ensure they remain within budgeted limits, including: Chemicals and cleaning supplies Kitchen disposables Labor costs Report any cost concerns or opportunities for savings to the Operations Manager. Requirements for Success: Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in a maintenance management role, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality environment. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish. Leadership: Strong organizational and leadership abilities to manage a team effectively. Problem Solving: Ability to resolve issues quickly and efficiently while maintaining service standards. Training and Mentorship: Capable of teaching, mentoring, and inspiring team members to improve performance. Cultural Fit: Ability to uphold and propagate the values, culture, and mission of Make It Nice properties. Professional and approachable demeanor with a focus on team development. Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying potential challenges. Ability to maintain calm and focus during peak service times. This role is key to ensuring that the porter team remains a vital and efficient part of the restaurant operation, contributing to the overall success and reputation of the business.
