Long weekend shift, Caregiving position on Eastside of Santa Cruz

Mainstream Inc. has offered Supported Living Services to adults with developmental disabilities in Santa Jose, Santa Cruz and Watsonville since 1994. We have a Full Time weekend Caregiver position for a thoughtful, reliable person with great people skills. This client lives on the Eastside of Santa Cruz near 41st Ave.

Medical, dental and life insurance is available for Full Time employees after a 60 day waiting period.

Compensation: Awake hours (8a-11:59p) $18.60, Sleep hours (12a-8a) $16, $16.50 after 1/1/25

Employment type: Full-Time with Overtime

Being a caregiver is an important and meaningful job. You'll be part of an experienced team of caregivers who support our client. This particular client has a seizure disorder as well as an intellectual disability. He requires supervision, oversight and companionship as well as minimal physical assistance with personal care- toileting, showering/hygiene, meal prep, medication administration and light housekeeping. His staff must be vigilant to assist him in navigating his home and the community safely. He can complete some tasks independently with gentle verbal prompting from his staff. Outside of the typical, necessary tasks, a day shift can also include watching movies, listening to oldies and drives on west cliff or down the coast to Watsonville. Current staff people would describe him as someone who is generally pleasant and easy to be around. Our caregivers are paid by the hour by our company, Mainstream. This position is also partially funded by IHSS and we will guide new hires through their enrollment process.

Available hours are as follows:

Friday 3pm-Monday 8am, 65 hours

We can potentially split this shift into 2 different positions for the right people, depending on their availability.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A qualified candidate must be able to assist our client physically. Assisting by lift/push/pull required. He is ambulatory but may need assistance at times standing from a seated or laying position.

You are also a great self-starter and are comfortable taking initiative independently

You have experience with (or advocating for) people with Developmental Disabilities and/or mental health issues, with references.

You must be at least 18 years old.

You must be able to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance and background check.
