Landscape Foreman

Brief Summary of Job: Manage groundskeeping personnel. Responsibilities to include,

but not limited to, overseeing the proper care of outdoor spaces and maintaining existing grounds, monitoring and training groundskeepers, supervising personnel’s proper use of equipment, ensuring staff observe safety guidelines and protocols, and completing various administrative duties. Possess leadership skills, be responsible, be a self starter and have a sound, working knowledge of pesticides and chemicals. Be able to both lead and follow instructions. Constantly expanding horticultural knowledge.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the job include but are not limited to:

Recruiting and training new crew members.

Assessing progress and making recommendations.

Ensuring all crew members obey health and safety regulations at all times.

Completing landscape design and construction.

Overseeing maintenance of lawns and gardens, and ensuring proper use of pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals.

Completing inventory checks and equipment inspections.

Providing cost, material, equipment, and time estimates.

Scheduling training sessions when required

Management retains the discretion to add or change the duties of the position at any time.

Supervisory Responsibility: Groundskeepers/Landscapers.

Independent Judgment Used: Frequently within the guidelines established by management.

Working Conditions/Environment: Access to the entire exterior of the Nuhou and Waioli Corporation properties.

Qualifications:

Knowledge/Education/Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Driver’s License. Clean Driver’s abstract. Relevant certificate may be required.

Skills/Abilities/Other Requirements: Knowledge of tools and equipment being used, Knowledge of safe working conditions and procedures. English speaking. Ability to make timely, effective decisions. Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate work assignments. Ability to maintain good team member relations. Ability to direct performance of team members and follow-up with corrective action where needed. Ability to provide legible written communications. Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations. Dependable.

Physical Requirements: Frequently walking indoors/outdoors, climbing stairs and ladders. Repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, squatting, kneeling, crawling, lifting and carrying. Reaching above, at and below shoulder level. Lifting and carrying unassisted up to 50 lbs. or with use of dolly. Reaching above, at and below shoulder level. Must be able to work at elevated levels. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for long periods. Exposure to chemicals.
