The position is responsible for the management of the western soy processing rail fleet, reaching across numerous soy processing assets. In addition, this role will have responsibilities in meal merchandising, oilseeds origination, month end, and customer related activities. . Focusing on achieving optimum financial results while building strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and third party trading and transportation partners. As an established member of the merchandising team, this position requires strong strategic thinking, market knowledge, teamwork, and employee development focus.Key Skills & Competencies:

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:
Develops key communication links within ADM to ensure optimal use of ADM facilities and market access, an understanding and awareness of market requirements and facilitate the effectiveness of ADM assets
Able to prepare and analyze basic profit and loss and other divisional reports
Strategically seeks out new business that would profitably enhance company assets
Builds & maintains relationships with a wide range of contacts, including rail service providers, end users, and vendors
Is able to prepare & present reports to management detailing customer issues and opportunities
Handles all accounting related issues in a timely manner to ensure good customer service
Ensures the most cost efficient transportation and logistics
Develops a good working knowledge of freight spreads and competitor activities
Works to make quick decisions in a fast market while accepting the responsibility to defend them logically
Develops a clear understanding of local, national, world market, and trends
Aggressively makes outbound phone calls to deliver and receive timely market information
Price discovery and bid/offer maintenance to enhance risk management and pricing
Understanding of margin calculations & their effect on commodity pricing
Understands the value of ADM owned transportation (i.e. barges, trucks and railcars) and how to enhance value
Understands and has strict adherence to corporate compliance policies, safety systems, trainings and programs
Ensures that individual goals are aligned with company goals
Constantly works on individual and personal development within the company
Develops good understanding of local plant operations
Works to attain positive, cooperative relationships with internal colleagues across divisions and responsibilities
Effectively use communication channels for proper coordination within the office and other locations

Is willing to work outside normal business hours including weekends with limited travel required throughout the year
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:
University degree in agriculture or business (i.e. economics, finance, accounting), supplemented with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in commodity merchandising. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
Demonstrated capacity to excel within high risk, fast-paced work environment.
Proven ability to assess risk and exercise sound judgment in making decisions.
Demonstrated negotiation and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the domestic and international trade.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with end-users, suppliers, and internal customers.
Computer competent, with demonstrated ability in the use of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
Proven ability to manage effectively within a team based work environment.
