Senior Associate Scientist, Biotransformation, DMPK
About This RoleDrug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) group in Biogen is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Associate Scientist for the identification of drug metabolites and some metabolizing enzymes, to support the discovery and development of innovative therapies for people living with neurological and rare diseases. The position is located at Cambridge, MA. It has great opportunities for growing and executing the skills and expertise in biotransformation, as well as for interactions with medicinal chemists and scientists in other functions. What You’ll DoIdentification and structural elucidation of drug metabolites in vitro (e.g., liver microsomes and hepatocytes, etc.) and in vivo (e.g. plasma and urine, etc.) using liquid chromatography - high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-MS; to be more specific, LC-HRMS).In vitro incubations to generate drug metabolite samples and to investigate the biotransformation mechanisms.Occasional purification of in vitro or in vivo drug metabolite sample for NMR structural identification.Conduct a limited number of radiolabeled metabolite profiling and identification studies, e.g., of 14C or 3H labeled candidate drugs in vivo and in vitro.Draft/write study reports on metabolite identification and biotransformation.Perform some in vitro metabolic reaction phenotyping to identify drug metabolizing enzymes.Who You AreA junior or entry level scientist who enjoys problem/puzzle-solving and likes operating analytical instruments would be better suited for this job.
