NOT ALL POSSIBLE TASKS ARE INCLUDED.HEADQUARTERS MULTIPLE PROGRAM UNIT:Interviews customers, analyzes compliance to federal and state laws, and determines requirements and the collection of appropriate fees.Communicates with customers through written or verbal correspondence after extensive research and evaluation of the driver's license and vehicle title and registration records.Suspends, disqualifies, revokes or reinstates driving and registering/titling privileges.Processes multiple transactions on-line to update Driver's License, Motor Vehicle and Driver Management records utilizing several computer systems and data sessions.Prepares daily production report of activities.May evaluate proper documentation and/or issues various types of vehicle titles, compute sales/use taxes, determine type, cost and eligibility of regular and specialized license plates; cancel and/or record vehicle mortgages; calculate and determine proper disbursement of delinquent sales/use taxes; correct, suspend or recall titles/registrations.May evaluate compliance and/or collect fees with supporting documents required for reinstatement of suspensions/revocations of driving and/or registering privileges under multiple laws.May evaluate and certify departmental records to be presented at administrative hearings and at court proceedings in response to subpoenas and petitions filed against the Department.May evaluate court convictions, arrest reports, insurance certificates/cancellations, investigative reports, medical/visual statements or driver condition/behavior reports and court orders for compliance or non-compliance with Driver's License law.May issue and update On-Line Driving Records (ODR) or National Driver Records (NDR).MOTOR VEHICLE FIELD SERVICES:Interviews customers for driver's licenses, identification cards, vehicle titles and registration and/or reinstatement; assesses the physical and mental condition of applicants.Determines type of license required and reviews documents to determine the eligibility for and propriety of issuing the license.Administers and grades vision, oral and/or written tests to applicants for driver's licenses.Inspects vehicles for safe operation; evaluates the driving ability of applicants by administering a thorough road skills test designed to test the applicants driving skills.Collects and balances required fees with no discrepancies.Takes photographs of applicants for driver's license and/or identification card.Determines and issues proper license plates and/or renewal stickers.Informs customers by written and/or verbal communication regarding requirements and procedures for driver's licenses, identification cards, vehicle titles and registrations and reinstatement.Physically lifts and counts boxes, each weighing approximately 25 pounds, of license plates and other forms/paper used for driver's license and motor vehicle transactions.Analyzes motor vehicle documents to ensure compliance with Louisiana and federal law.Works in conjunction with insurance companies, insurance agencies, the Commissioner of Insurance offices as well as courts, other law enforcement agencies, public officials, attorneys, other state agencies, etc.Serves as witness in lieu of notary public legalizing documents regarding disposition of vehicles.Conducts special investigations to resolve problem cases expediently and compiles documents for record keeping purposes.Maintains confidentiality regarding all driving/registering records maintained by the department.Testifies in court on cases concerning civil and criminal matters pertaining to driving/registering records.Operates equipment utilized in records processing and management activities of motor vehicles that requires alphabetic and numeric keyboard skills.Louisiana State Government represents a wide variety of career options and offers an outstanding opportunity tomake a differencethrough public service.
