AECOM is seeking a CIVIL HIGHWAY ENGINEER to be based in the Greater Philadelphia Area. AECOM has offices in Philadelphia and Conshohocken, PA as well as Newark, DE.In this role, you will provide technical leadership to teams working on medium to large scale transportation projects in the Greater Pennsylvania Area. Current notable projects include:I-95 RECONSTRUCTION (Philadelphia, PA) – Urban interstate reconstruction including interchange ramp and local roadway re-alignments, traffic control, and utility coordination in final design to mitigate level of service and improve existing conditionsSTATE RD RECONSTRUCTION (Bucks County, PA) – Suburban arterial reconstruction including right-of-way plan development, roadway geometry, pavement design, traffic control, and utility coordination in preliminary engineering to mitigate existing roadway floodingSR1 RECONSTRUCTION (Chester County, PA) – Freeway reconstruction including profile adjustments, interchange reconstruction, interchange ramp realignments, multiple roundabout designs, trail designs, and side road alignment adjustments. US-22 RECONSTRUCTION (Allentown, PA) – Urban interstate widening from 4 to 6 lanes. Project Includes bridge replacement, interchange reconfiguration, stream relocation, sound barriers, safety improvements, traffic control, and utility coordination.I-81 RECONSTRUCTION (Avoca, Moosic, and Scranton, PA) - Urban Interstate reconstruction including mainline widening, 2 interchanges being fully reconstructed including ramp realignments, intersection improvements, right-of- way coordination, and structure coordination for 15 bridges along mainline and ramps. The ideal CIVIL HIGHWAY ENGINEER candidate will be experienced in delegating tasks to less experienced engineers and be comfortable providing technical guidance and support to those individuals. Our expertise and global reach enable us to deliver high-quality solutions for our clients that pave the way for long-lasting benefits to society.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Develop design criteria, horizontal and vertical alignments, superelevation, barrier/guiderail design, and spot elevation detailsDevelop rigid and flexible pavement designsPrepare signing and pavement marking plans and detailsPrepare construction phasing plans and develop maintenance of traffic based on interdisciplinary coordination and constructability reviewsIdentify utility conflicts and coordinate resolutions based on interdisciplinary constructability reviews, client feedback, and utility needsDevelop construction specifications, quantities, and cost estimatesImplement 3D CADD modeling techniquesDevelop technical reports, tables, and graphics per client and/or internal AECOM standardsAdhere to and promote AECOM quality proceduresComplete interdisciplinary technical reviewsContribute to internal project-related staffing decisions to facilitate meeting client schedule, scope, and budgetPrepare presentations that explain technical findings, recommendations, and limitationsInteract with regulatory agencies, clients, and subconsultants in a professional manner as required by the AECOM project managerProvide guidance and training to less experienced staffWork collaboratively as part of a larger design team to proactively meet the client’s scope, budget, and schedule through ethical and responsible decision making.Provide support to AECOM project managers and department managersAttributesIndependently analyzes and applies solutions to challenging issues within area of expertise by applying critical thinkingPossess strong technical skills acquired through advanced training, study and experienceApplies broad knowledge of at least one professional discipline or advanced knowledge of specific technical and operational practicesPrepares project deliverables that are reviewed by senior team membersObtains technical certificates and licenses, where applicableActively participates in professional or industry organizations as a committee memberContributes in one or more areas of knowledge, providing proposed improvements to existing processes and delivering solutions where precedent may not existPerforms a self-check of work products prior to submitting to othersPerforms technical quality reviews including documentation in project record in accordance with policies and proceduresAssists with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for projects or programsWork is accomplished autonomously on small projects or portions of larger projects within established procedures and practicesGenerally free to determine work priorities based on direction from manager and project team leadsProvides leadership by coordinating work of othersRecruits staffBegins to interact directly with client to gather information and discuss project requirements
