AECOM is seeking a talented Project Engineer to support our Water, Wastewater, and Water Resources practice based in Chelmsford, MA.The selected employee will have a primary focus on water/wastewater/water resources utility planning, design, condition assessment, and mapping for state, municipal, and private clients. The candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including site investigations, field measurements, utility investigations, capacity studies, condition assessments, conceptual through 100 percent design, cost estimating, and construction administration/observation. The successful candidate will have ample opportunities to develop professionally through frequent collaboration with senior engineers, project manager, clients, regulatory agencies, and industry-leading subject matter experts, and attendance at professional conferences.The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:Provides technical support for a variety of utility design related projects, including treatment plants, pump/booster stations, water line and collection line design, rehabilitation, master planning, and construction administration.Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings.Work under supervision of a senior project manager in the water/wastewater/water resources practice or senior level team members.Utilize basic engineering principles, judgement, theories, practices, and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems.Work on routine or detailed engineering assignments involving calculations and engineering analyses.Perform work with little supervision.Propose approaches to solve new problems.Identify discrepancies in outcomes, results, and analysis of engineering tasks.Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.Provide guidance to entry-level engineers.Record field data using tablets and GPS units.Record and interpret data, conduct analyses, prepare reports, and compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.Perform data gathering site visits, field measurements, mapping, and observations during construction.Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.Software use includes, but is not limited to: AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Bentley and/or hydraulic modeling packages.
