Description FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the A/P Specialist performs all aspects of Payable Accounting and related duties as assigned by the CFO, including but not limited to posting payables and analysis of Payables Reconciliation.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Full knowledge of non-profit, fund-based computer accounting applications.

Daily processing of payables and reconciliations to the aging reports.

Preparation of daily payable journals.

Cross trains with other members of the accounting staff to ensure continuous operation of fiscal responsibilities.

Performs special assignments as requested by the CFO or the Senior Accountant.

Review and verify supportive documentation for various payable transactions.

Other projects/duties as assigned.

Participate in all departmental meetings as requested by the CFO.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Full knowledge of A/P and Procurement Policies and Procedures.

Strong understanding of the A/P function including statement reconciliation, coding, batching, and posting, preferably in a non-profit accounting function.

Competent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple high-priority projects with keen attention to detail.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Professional demeanor; team player orientation. Ability to interface within all levels of the organization and external parties.

Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines. Works under immediate supervision while exercising minimal independent judgment.

Possesses a high degree of confidentiality.

Hands-on, energetic, and motivated self-starter.

Ability to accurately sort, check, count, and verify numbers.

Strong data entry and 10-key by touch abilities.

Ability to make sound, independent judgments, organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical deadlines.

Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and managers and function in a professional office setting.

REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma with preference for college-level accounting education. 2-3 years of A/P experience with preference for experience in a non-profit environment. Computer literacy with working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word. Familiarity with computerized Accounting software, i.e., Sage and Yardi. Valid California Driver License is a must.
