Description of Duties: This is the position of OPS Building Construction Specialist for the Planning & Design Sub-Section with in FWC’s Public Access Services Office. The Public Access Services Office, part of the Division of Habitat and Species Conservation, is a leader in innovative best practices to provide safe, sustainable, quality wildlife experiences and conservation opportunities to the public. This position is responsible for building construction and repair tasks for facilities on Florida’s Wildlife Management Area system including (but not limited to) renovation and construction of boardwalks, buildings (residential, commercial and agricultural), bridges, roads, boating and dock facilities and entrance improvements.

Assist on construction projects by evaluating the quality of work, take photos for documentation, fill out necessary reports.

Experience with simple carpentry and handyman type of repairs would be a plus.

Inspect facilities and compile recommended repairs or replacement as needed. Complete inspection reports with clarity about current conditions

Review provided inspection reports and create a scope of work required for that particular project.

Compile necessary information and fill out purchase order requests, permit requests, other construction documentation as needed.

Occasionally self perform smaller maintenance projects, depending on skill set and safety requirements.

Performs annual maintenance/cleaning duties as assigned to include pressure washing and touch up painting.

Complete logs, files, and documentation accurately and on time.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

This position offers a pay rate depending on experience within the range of $18.00-$21.00 per hour with potential for health benefits, based on 1,920 hours per fiscal year. Applicant must have the ability to travel overnight 25% to 50% on average yearly.

Skilled in safely using and maintaining standard hand and power tools for maintenance and repair.

Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems with building functions and issues.

Good physical condition and ability to do physical work, and other manual labor.

Ability to easily lift 40 pounds.
