Maintenance Technician

A Maintenance Technician is a role model in the group and is the person behind the scenes and often in the scene making the Mott magic happen. Often various groups rely on the Maintenance department to assist and or implement projects. Maintenance covers a vast field of projects and not limited to just PM’SMott leads the industries we serve in lead time, performance and quality. Mott is a subsidiary of iDEX Corporation, and S&P 500 company. The Maintenance Technician plays a critical role by managing daily priorities of the organization by means of Equipment up time, project support and general needs of the organization. Within this role are multiple layers as outlined in “key responsibilities“ listed below, but not limited to:Key Responsibilities:
Manage the preventive maintenance system and spare parts inventory
Perform Furnace and equipment rebuilds as required to maintain operation and prevent unscheduled down time.
Collect data and identify pain points of equipment. Make recommendations to improve efficiencies, reduce costs and proactively address potential issues
Plan maintenance repairs and projects, order materials and arrange for outside services as required
Support maintenance team in maintaining, repairing, installing any machines, equipment, furnaces, and facility needs
Manage the completion of continuous improvement projects assigned by the Value Stream, Safety or other departments
Monitor and report on employee performance and potential improvement areas.
Maintain training competency within maintenance team.
Assure adherence to processes and procedures are followed to assure safe execution of activities internally and with external contractors performing work.
Create a culture of responsibility and ownership
Hands on as required to support operation and timely execution of work
Major Challenges:
Training on multiple pieces of equipment. Maintaining PM program and critical spare parts. Driving 3–5-year equipment uptime priority.
Scheduling maintenance activity with Production to perform work
Multiple requests from various groups in organization must be prioritized, executed and communicated to requestor
Engage equipment manufacturers and other resources to resolve issues and find replacement components
Success in this role is measured by the following outcomes:
100% of safety opportunities as presented
Completing 100 % of work orders generated with in a 7-day period from date of population
Supporting work order requests “general” from various groups
Equipment uptime 3-5 year goals from 95% to 98 % by year 5
Group competency maintained at 100%
Schedule overtime during week and on weekends to support PM requirements and or address unscheduled events to get back online
Required Experience:
Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
A minimum of 5 years working in a manufacturing environment
Prior experience in a Maintenance Technician role
Maintaining PM via LIMBLE or similar software system
Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing documentation.
Record keeping
Timecard processing
Net Suite or similar purchase requisition ordering platform
Technical Knowledge/Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication
Mechanical aptitude; ability to use mills, lathes, power tools, fabrication, MIG welding, fork truck
Basic electrical and PLC knowledge
Problem Solving
Basic understanding of Hydraulics or hydraulic presses
Project management
Ability to interpret drawings; equipment, construction, and facility
