Diesel Mechanic
Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform routine inspections to ensure that commercial vehicles meet safety and regulatory standards. This includes checking brakes, lights, tires, and other essential components
Diagnose and repair mechanical issues in commercial vehicles. This can involve engine repairs, transmission work, and addressing electrical or hydraulic problems
Work on brake systems, steering, and suspension components to ensure the vehicle's safe operation
Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunctions
Repair, reline, replace & adjust brakes
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and address engine-related issue.
Troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, including lights, wiring, and electronic components
Create work orders on repairs and services providing legible and accurate information for work performed
Regularly scheduled maintenance, such as oil changes and filter replacements, to keep vehicles in good working condition
Complies with all safety, DOT & OSHA guidelines
Ensure cleanliness of shop & surrounding areas
Performs other duties as required
Skills and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of practical tractor trailer mechanical experience.
Strong understanding of vehicle systems, safety regulations, and the ability to work with specialized tools and equipment
Familiar with engine components and systems and know how they interact with each other. Ability to disassemble major parts for repairs, and be able to put them back together properly.
Proficient in Microsoft office
Knowledge of tractor trucks and trailers
Proficient in using diagnostic equipment, software and tools to identify and resolve issues efficiently
Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
Valid Driver’s License required
Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in shop environment
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing
Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Must be able to work in extreme heat and cold temperatures
Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering shop floor equipment to access, inspect, or oversee shop work
Requires occasional travel outside service area
Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, gloves, etc.)
May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
