This position advises & explains policies/processes for outside agencies to coordinate benefits. This position advises staff members and persons from outside agencies on compliance with program functions and interprets policy to ensure the proper application of award programs and the billing process. This position compiles records and reports to reconcile the Veterans and third-party billing programs, and prepares documentation. Reconciles & prepares Tuition waivers, prepare & print accounts receivable, vendor checks, and student Payroll checks & automated clearing house ACH batches, and oversee mail distribution.Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, reconcile, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems.
Knowledge of accounting systems sufficient to query and compile records and reports.
Ability to provide lead work and direction to other employees in refund and waiver calculations, receivable corrections, and adjustments, and to safeguard college financial assets.
Proficient in the use of standard business software applications including word processing, spreadsheet, internet browsers and e-mail software.
Strong math skills sufficient to isolate discrepancies, and to calculate the third-party awards so that deadlines are met.in a timely manner.
Demonstrated customer service skills to establish effective working relationships.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Preferred Qualification
Minimum of two years of experience in a similar accounting position.
Knowledge and understanding of higher education to exercise the ability to identify and address problems as well as the ability to plan.
Experience with modules of the MnState ISRS System with the ability to review accounts, facilitate account corrections, and provide direction to other employees in addition to answering students’ questions relating to third party awards, student outstanding balances, financial aid awards, and charges for tuition & fees.
Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate proficient human relations skills to work with a varied level of internal and external customers for issues to achieve effective problem solving.
Ability to successfully use software such as Microsoft Word and Excel to create and modify documents and spreadsheets.
Demonstrated effective time management skills while still employing excellent attention to detail resolving account questions, third party billings, and keeping current on requests from other departments and outside agencies that interact with the Business Office.
