Master Mechanic
The Master Mechanic at our farm plays an essential role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, machinery, and equipment critical to daily operations. This includes diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues, performing preventative maintenance, and ensuring all systems are operational and compliant with safety standards. Strong communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail are essential to coordinating with multiple departments and maintaining accurate records. The work environment includes a workshop and various other outdoor settings.
-Required Diagnostic/Repair Experience: two-cycle and four-cycle small gas engines, passenger vehicles, pickup trucks, trailers, medium-duty and heavy-duty vehicles, electrical systems, and heavy equipment with hydraulics.
-Preferred Diagnostic/Repair Experience (or willingness to learn): power tools, solar power systems, water pumps, Amiad auto filters, sulfur burners, electric motors, HVAC systems, and automated production lines.
-Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to clearly convey technical details during meetings, over email/text, and in person. This includes the ability to coordinate with multiple departments and leadership teams.
-Attention to detail to ensure proper maintenance schedules, accurate part replacements, and compliance with California health and safety codes.
-Familiarity with inventory management systems and tracking consumable parts, with a willingness to learn additional software or systems as needed.
-Organizational skills to maintain maintenance schedules, records, and hazardous materials compliance while ensuring readiness of all equipment and vehicles.
-Creative problem-solving skills to identify and implement cost-effective repairs
-Ability to learn and adapt to new equipment and technology
-Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally heavier items.
-Comfortable standing, walking, and working outdoors for extended periods, including in varying weather conditions such as heat, cold, or rain.
-Capable of bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing to access equipment and machinery as needed.
-Own a personal set of standard tools to use on the job (preferred, not required).
-Welding and fabrication skills (preferred, not required).
-Spanish language skills (preferred, not required).
