Job Summary - Director, Operations - HospitalistsPlans, directs and coordinates all non-clinical aspects of the Corewell Health Medical Group assigned Department to achieve overall strategic and operational goals. Coordinates departmental strategic planning, marketing, operations, quality initiatives, regulatory compliance and system integration in collaboration with Corewell Health Medical Group leadership team and functional support services to ensure quality of care provided to patients and families.Essential Functions - Director, Operations - Hospitalists
Participates with the governing counsel of the department and the department physician chair in developing and implementing Corewell Health Medical Group’s philosophy, mission, goals, and objectives that align with the broader health care system. Ensures department policies, programs, and plans are consistent with and support Corewell Health Medical Group's core values and mission.
Identifies, recommends, develops, and updates departmental strategic long and short-range plans to support Corewell Health Medical Group philosophy and longer term strategic intent. Develops and achieves business goals that include establishing and maintaining quality standards and sustaining profitability for the organization.
Organizes, coordinates and integrates practice management systems, policies and procedures with a particular focus on operational excellence, staffing, office operations, information systems, management development, and marketing. Directs and supervises all of the operational, facility planning, strategic growth planning, and quality activities of the department through professional management and technical and support staff.
Responsible for and participates in departmental public relations and marketing activities. Collaborates in the development of marketing objectives designed to support operational and financial goals and objectives. Innovates and creates competitive product services which add value to the physician practices and departmental services.
Provides direction and support to physicians, advanced practice providers, management, and staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency within the department. Selects, develops, and evaluates management, physicians (in collaboration with the department Chair), and mid-level providers. Initiates personnel actions in accordance with Corewell Health Medical Group policies and organization philosophy. Develops a strong management team who can relate effectively to physicians, the broader medical group and the system as a whole.
In collaboration with Corewell Health Medical Group administration and medical staff maintains effective physician relations by identifying and actively recruiting additional physicians and allied health providers. Maintains current knowledge of how changes in the health care environment affect physicians and their income. Assures that a high quality of service is provided to patients and physicians at all times, and that all activities are in accordance with the mission, objectives, and standards of care for the Corewell Health Medical Group and broader health system.
In collaboration with Corewell Health Medical Group administration and Finance Revenue Cycle leadership, collaboratively manages all aspects of department revenue cycle operations including compliance and maximization of managed care contracts; insuring registration, scheduling and other revenue cycle activities are appropriately managed and monitored.
Develops, implements, and maintains the annual operating plan for the department ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines. Working closely with Department Chair, develops financial plan for department. Responsible for monitoring actual financial results with the Corewell Health Medical Group approved plan. Coordinates compliance activities that assure regulatory rules governing health care delivery and the rules of accrediting bodies are met for the department.
Qualifications - Director, Operations - Hospitalists
Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, in business, health care administration or related field
Preferred Master's Degree or equivalent
7 years of relevant experience of related health care experience Required
3 years of relevant experience in a leadership role
Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and demonstrated ability to think strategically with a thorough understanding of strategic development. Required
Experience working in an organization of size and complexity comparable to Corewell Health Medical Group. Required
