The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory management and team leadership.Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operation of the solar laboratory, including scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management to meet production targets and project deadlines.
Conduct laboratory tests that optimize solar wafer manufacturing processes, materials, and technologies, working closely with product engineering, quality engineering, plant engineering, and operations teams to ensure product quality assurance and translate findings into actionable improvements.
Supervise and mentor a team of laboratory technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback to ensure adherence to quality standards, safety protocols, and best practices.
Analyze data, interpret results, and prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management, highlighting key findings, insights, and opportunities.
Manage laboratory equipment, instrumentation, and supplies, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and inventory management to support ongoing research and development activities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness, identifying areas for optimization and implementing solutions to streamline workflows and reduce cycle times.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety guidelines, and environmental standards applicable to laboratory operations, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the laboratory team, encouraging creativity, initiative, and continuous learning to drive success and achieve business objectives.
Maintain accurate records, work instructions, and documentation, ensuring traceability and accountability for all activities performed within the solar laboratory.
Work Hours
Standard Hours (Monday – Friday, 8am-5pm)
Managing a 24/7 plant structure, so occasional support when needed
Required Skills
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of technicians, engineers, and operations associates to achieve common goals and objectives.
Working experience with a focus in laboratory operations.
Experience in planning, organizing, and executing lab testing, experiments, projects, and initiatives within budget, timeline constraints, and vying priorities.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as MATLAB, Python, or JMP, for processing, analyzing, and visualizing data and results.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts and findings to diverse audiences.
Desired Skills
Entry-level position (<1 t 3 years' experience preferred)
Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement in laboratory operations, implementing new ideas, processes, and technologies to achieve operational excellence.
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to improve operational performance and quality.
Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance requirements relevant to solar cell manufacturing.
Experience with cleanroom protocols, equipment maintenance, and cleanroom gowning procedures is desirable.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, 5S methodology, and continuous improvement techniques for process optimization.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $45,301.00 - $62,289.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
