Another Source’s client, San Francisco State University, is recruiting an Associate Vice President and Executive Director to join their University Corporation team.

The University Corporation (UCorp) is an auxiliary nonprofit organization supporting SF State’s mission through grants administration, business partnerships, and commercial operations, ensuring the delivery of essential services to students, faculty, and staff.

About the role:

Reporting to the Vice President & CFO for Administration & Finance (A&F) and the UCorp Board of Directors, the Associate Vice President/Executive Director will provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for UCorp’s operations. This position oversees a $4 million annual operating budget and $94 million in total assets, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with SF State’s strategic priorities.

As the Executive Director of UCorp, you will lead a dedicated team managing grants, campus commercial operations, and essential auxiliary services. You will collaborate with university leadership, faculty, and external stakeholders to enhance UCorp’s impact, ensuring students, faculty, and staff receive the support needed for success.

How you can expect your time to be spent:

Leadership, Management, and Administration  

Oversee UCorp’s financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

Lead and mentor staff, fostering a collaborative and mission-driven culture.

Drive employee recruiting, retention, and professional development strategies.

Administer a $4 million operating budget and implement strategies to optimize financial performance.

Enhance organizational effectiveness through strategic process improvements and policy development.

Program and Service Design, Implementation, and Success 

Identify, design, and implement programs supporting university priorities and improving the student experience.

Collaborate with university departments to develop innovative solutions.

Direct day-to-day operations, ensuring service delivery excellence. 

Compliance and Reporting 

Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards.

Oversee accurate and timely reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Collaborate with the UCorp Board of Directors to provide regular updates and strategic recommendations. 

Campus and Divisional Leadership  

Serve as a key member of the Administration & Finance Leadership Team.

Represent UCorp’s and SF State’s interests at campus and community events.

Act as the SF State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) lead during emergencies, providing 24-hour on-call support. 

What we would like to see from you:

Education 

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, higher education administration, or a related field.

Master’s degree preferred. 

Experience 

At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, nonprofit, or related sectors.

Proven financial management expertise, including strategic planning and compliance oversight.

Supervisory experience with large, diverse teams. 

Knowledge 

In-depth understanding of finance and business principles, nonprofit compliance, and quality assurance standards.

Familiarity with higher education funding sources and regulatory requirements.

Abilities 

Build and sustain strong partnerships with corporate, foundation, and university stakeholders.

Develop innovative solutions in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Communicate effectively with diverse audiences and build consensus across constituencies. 

Preferred Qualifications 

Experience in entrepreneurial activities.

Leadership experience exceeding 5 years in higher education or related sectors. 

Special Working Conditions 

This position is a 24-hour on-call position in case of emergencies and critical campus needs.
