GI Lab Endoscopy: The GI Lab is a fast paced environment consisting of four Endoscopy Suites and one Bronchoscopy Suite. Procedures performed include (but not limited to): colonoscopies, egd, ercp, manometry, pill cam studies, BRAVO studies, bronchoscopy, EBUS and navigation. We service both outpatient and inpatients. Our team consists of primarily RNs with a minimum of 3 or more years nursing experience. BLS and ACLS required. Our team also includes scope techs and a certified Endo Tech. Nursing responsibilities rotate within the department include pre op, intra procedure, post op and occasional scope room. Our department operates Monday - Friday with after hour, weekend and holiday call coverage. Call requirement for RNs run approximately every 6thweekend (Friday evening to Monday morning). Approximately one night of a call per week and holiday rotation. Position Summary: Provide supportive para-nursing & housekeeping functions in the Operating Room, PACU, & PHA. Demonstrates knowledge of sterile field.
Illustrates proper technique for transporting and positioning patients safely.
Displays understanding of proper body mechanics.
Demonstrates special positions and/or bed positions such as Morgan Pelvic, Andrews Frame, etc.
Recognize the area of surgical prep (clean or sterile).
Responsible for maintaining environmental cleanliness standards of the operating rooms and ancillary areas.
Demonstrates proper technique for surgical skins preps.
Demonstrates proper technique for urinary catheterization.
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
QualificationsMinimum Education: None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED. Minimum Experience: Entry level.
